Engøyholmen Coastal Culture Center is located in the middle of Stavanger harbor. While the harbor environment is otherwise characterized by pleasure boats, commercial traffic and a busy oil industry, Engøyholmen is located as a peaceful island in the modern city. The sea house environment on the islet appears as it was built in the early 1800s. Lobster exports, herring salting and equipped vessels for fishing have been operated from these buildings. For the past 20 years, the activity in the buildings has been characterized by cultural protection, coastal culture and an exciting youth project that has made the islet a living cultural island. The center is one of Norway's most active coastal cultural environments.
